Riparian Zone Restoration Project

To Lake Associations and Waterfront Residents,

Beginning this year, the implementation of riparian zone restoration in the watersheds of the rivers Rouge, Petite Nation, and Saumon will serve to fight against the proliferation of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae). This action plan is made possible due to financing from the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs (MDDEP) Quebec, the Government of Canada's Economic Action Plan, the Conférence régionale des élus de l'Outaouais, the Pacte rural of the MRC Papineau, the Commission scolaire au Cœur-des-Vallées, the Caisse populaire Desjardins de la Petite-Nation, the Auberge jeunesse de la Petite-Nation, the Camp Rivière-Rouge and through the support of your municipality and lake association as well as the efforts of the OBV des rivières Rouge, Petite Nation et Saumon (OBV RPNS).

Moratorium on Development of l’Île du Canard Blanc

The citizens of Lac-Simon want to protect their island

The project to build a permanent dock at l’Île du Canard Blanc is put on hold.

At a special information meeting held on Saturday, the Municipality undertook an obligation to perform a study on the capacity of Lac Simon to support further development, in the current year*. Following this decision, the developer has committed to await the results of this study** before continuing his efforts to obtain a permit to build the permanent dock on l’Île du Canard Blanc. He also pledged to respect the moratorium of one year for his proposed development of non-lakeside land lots.

A controversial landing in Lac-Simon

The municipality of Lac-Simon will hold a briefing tomorrow morning at 10am at the Town Hall on a proposal to build a permanent dock at the island's white duck is generating significant controversy.

An entrepreneur who owns land on the island, some of which have already been constructed, the proposed construction of a permanent dock for utilities to be able to carry such materials more easily.

Revitalization of the shoreline

During this last year we have informed you of a project to protect our lakes’ waters. Among the numerous measures that contribute to the protection of a lake, the restoration of the shoreline with appropriate vegetation is high on the list. What should be planted? Where? How? Those are the important questions that must be answered. To be efficient, the choice of plants must be appropriate to the terrain, slope, etc.

L’élection de novembre 2009 a modifié le portrait politique des municipalités de Lac Simon et Duhamel.    

À la municipalité de Lac Simon, une nouvelle équipe a été élue. Nous avons suivi leurs travaux par des présences soutenues aux assemblées du conseil municipal ainsi que par des rencontres avec le maire et certains conseillers sur des dossiers particuliers. Au cours de ces échanges nous avons fait part à la nouvelle administration de nos priorités en matière d’environnement et de protection des eaux.
