Riparian Zone Restoration Project

To Lake Associations and Waterfront Residents,

Beginning this year, the implementation of riparian zone restoration in the watersheds of the rivers Rouge, Petite Nation, and Saumon will serve to fight against the proliferation of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae). This action plan is made possible due to financing from the Ministère du Développement durable, de l’Environnement et des Parcs (MDDEP) Quebec, the Government of Canada's Economic Action Plan, the Conférence régionale des élus de l'Outaouais, the Pacte rural of the MRC Papineau, the Commission scolaire au Cœur-des-Vallées, the Caisse populaire Desjardins de la Petite-Nation, the Auberge jeunesse de la Petite-Nation, the Camp Rivière-Rouge and through the support of your municipality and lake association as well as the efforts of the OBV des rivières Rouge, Petite Nation et Saumon (OBV RPNS).

In this first year, the action plan will place emphasis on the completion of concrete activities on the riparian zones of the lakes deemed of the highest priority by the ministry (MDDEP). As well, from July 30thth to the 8th of august, our restoration practitioners will be present in your municipality, offering  personalized visits, with the goal of advising and increasing awareness concerning the re-naturalization of riparian zones. That being said, our restoration practitioners will complete a restoration plan summary with you that is adapted to the realities of your property and which will allow you to conform with municipal regulations. Finally, we will be available to answer any of your questions and to refer you to other resources in the case of specific problems.

We are counting on your collaboration and participation in this project which will have direct positive impacts on the water quality of our rivers and lakes. Consequently, your involvement in this project will play a vital role in the natural heritage which you will preserve for future generations. If you are interested in benefiting from these services, offered at no charge thanks to our financial partners, please contact us by email (, or if email is not possible, by telephone (819-428-2420). Contact us as soon as possible to reserve a time slot as there is limited availability.

We sincerely thank you for your collaboration.
