This Quebec cultural and natural gem is targeted by developers and its very existence is threatened. For that reason, local people and cultural actors have felt the need to get involved. <\/p>\n<p>They are giving this press conference to announce that a request for a heritage site designation has been sent to the Ministry of Culture and Communications of Quebec. The Municipality of Lac-Simon has already designated the estate as heritage site. The new request aims to fully preserve it for the enjoyment of the whole community and of future generations.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nThe 48-acre estate occupies a gorgeous setting on the shore of lac Simon and includes two ancient buildings of high patrimonial value, a scenicfootpath dotted with stations of the cross, two wayside crosses, an old private cemetery, an ancient forest and a moist meadow. Its shoreline and forest cover are in a pristine state. This cultural and natural jewel must be preserved at all cost. <\/p>\n<p>Several well-known experts in the fields of history and heritage preservation will be on hand to explain its cultural and environmental value for the people of Quebec.
